Life Teen: Grades 9 – 12

Great things are happening here at St. Steven’s! We are excited to implement Life Teen High School ministry beginning in August 2012.

Life Teen is a complete, comprehensive and interactive model of religious formation for high school students that incorporates traditional education with modern models of learning. Life Teen began in 1985 at a single parish in Mesa, AZ and, by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, has become the model of high school ministry implemented in over 1,300 parishes. The curriculum for Life Teen is based on the United States Council of Catholic Bishops Curriculum Framework for High School.

Drawing strength from the Holy Mass and Eucharist, guided by the Holy Spirit through the intercession of Mary, We view Life Teen’s mission as three parts:

  1. We are a Christ-centered ministry. We commit to walk with students on their faith journey and lead them ultimately to the Eucharist and the Holy Mass.
  2. We are a relational ministry. Utilizing the model Jesus gave on the road to Emmaus, we seek to form Christ-centered mentor-student relationships. We strive to meet teens where they are at and help them find the call to holiness. To do this effectively, we appropriate parts of their culture in order to effectively preach the Gospel.
  3. We are a revolutionary ministry. Jesus preached a radical message, never sacrificing the Good News for the sake of public opinion. In the same way, we seek out innovative ways to teach the Gospel to teens without sacrificing the message.

Life Teen is for teenagers in grades 9-12. We meet on Sunday evenings after the 5 pm mass (approximately 6:00 – 8:00 pm) in the Great Hall. Life Teen is open to any teenager who is interesting in making friends and diving deeper into his/her Catholic faith.
